Ardyce was born on Feb. 15, 1923 in Palouse to Arthur E. and Hazel (Lazelle) Kent. She attended school in Palouse and graduated from Palouse High School in 1941. She married Leslie J. Howell on Dec. 28, 1941 in Palouse and the couple made their home in Oakesdale where they farmed. In 1945, they moved to a farm between Palouse and Potlatch where they continued to farm. In 1967, they moved to the family farm in the Wellsley area where they farmed and raised cattle. Mr. Howell died in 1997. Ardyce was a member of the Elmore United Methodist Church, Palouse Roundtable and the Will Do Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning, gardening and her flowers. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Howell and his wife, Marybeth of Potlatch; her daughter, Pamela Anderson and her husband, Joe of Potlatch; her brother, Gordon Dean Kent of Yakima, Wash.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
