Description	:	Arend Gerd Brockens died at his home in Amber, last Monday night, at 11:50 p.m. He had been ill for more than a year with pernicious anemia which was aggravated by a severe siege of influenza and pneumonia, which he was subject to last winter. His condition became so weakened that he was compelled to give up his farming operations last March. He removed to Amber, where he had since lived. Read More	Arend Gerd Brockens died at his home in Amber, last Monday night, at 11:50 p.m. He had been ill for more than a year with pernicious anemia which was aggravated by a severe siege of influenza and pneumonia, which he was subject to last winter. His condition became so weakened that he was compelled to give up his farming operations last March. He removed to Amber, where he had since lived. His death came as an unexpected blow to his family. he was in the usual health last Monday, and had visited his mother, Mrs. Anna Brockens, at Amber during the afternoon. He had a long talk with her, and soon after his return home he was stricken; never was able to speck again. Mr. Brockens was a son of John Brockens and Anna Peterson-Brockens. He was born in Wayne Township, Jones County Iowa, on April 17, 1880. He was baptized and confirmed at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. He was married to Amelia Zickler, of Arlington Iowa, June 18, 1902. There were born to them six children, five of whom are living. Henry, Anna, Wilhelmina, Edna and Celena. Besides his widow and children, the deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. Anna Brockens, of Amber; one brother, John of Strawberry Point; four sisters, Mrs. Ralph Zimmerman of Cass Township, Mrs. Austin Stadtmueller of Castle Grove Township, Mrs. Fred Burrack of Arlington and Mrs. Gerd Bodecker of Amber. the funeral services were held this morning. A short service was held at the home of the deceased, at 10:00 and the funeral party then proceeded to Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, where final services were held. They were conducted by rev. J. Willms, the pastor of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Burial was held at the Wayne Zion Cemetery.
