Services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the First Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial was in the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Read More	Arend Van Otterloo, 82, of Hull died Friday, August 14, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull. Services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the First Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial was in the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Mr. Van Otterloo was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Rock Valley, the son of John J. and Hester (Vander Bok) Van Otterloo. He was raised in the Rock Valley area and attended the Rock Valley Christian School. In January 1938, he entered the barber college in Sioux City. Following his training period, he worked a short time as a barber in Le Mars and then moved to Little Rock where he worked as a barber for 22 months. In January 1941, he purchased the Hull barbering business of John Koele. He married Joyce Van Kley on Sept. 29, 1942, in Rock Valley. He retired in February 1998, due to ill health. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull where he served as a deacon and church treasurer. In addition to his contributions to Hull as a longtime businessman, he had been a member, treasurer and secretary of the Hull Businessman's Club, treasurer for the swimming pool fund, and treasurer for the Hull Christian School Board. Survivors include his wife; four daughters and their husbands, Betty and Adrian Van Engen, and Esther and Cliff Gort, all of Hull, Helen and Dr. Bruce Vander Kooi of Storm Lake and Linda and Dennis Brunsting of Boyden; a son and his wife Donald and Glenda of Sioux Center; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Leonard and Bernice Van Otterloo of Sioux Center; three sisters, Tena and Agnes Van Otterloo, both of Rock Valley and Alice Veltkamp of Hudsonville, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Magdalena Van Otterloo and Rose Van Otterloo, both of Hull. He was proceeded in death by six brothers, John, Adam, Herman, Henry, Peter and Melvin; a sister, Jennie; and an infant son. Memorials may be directed to the Sioux County Hospice.
