Wilcox was born June 24, 1851, at Fairview, Jones County Iowa; and departed this life, October 19, 1932, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Bailey, Carleton, Neb., aged 81 years, 3 months and 25 days. When a young man he united with the Baptist church. On October 14, 1869, he was united in marriage to Isabella J. Hunter. To this union were born eight children; Nevada W. When a young man he united with the Baptist church. On October 14, 1869, he was united in marriage to Isabella J. Hunter. To this union were born eight children; Nevada W. Wilcox, Munden; George Wilcox, Fort Shaw, Mont.; Myrtle Sellars, Munden; Arthur Wilcox, Salem, S. D.; Rebecca who died in infancy; Maude Holmes who died August 21, 1911; Mable Smith who died April 16, 1918; and Edithe Bailey of Carleton, Neb. In 1878, he moved with his family from Iowa to a homestead near Holdrege, Neb., where they resided until 1894 when they moved to Hubbell, Neb., which was his home until his departure from this life. He was for many years in the employ of the government as rural mail carrier out of Hubbell. Later he was engaged in the mercantile business and as a station operator for a creamery company. He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. and the I.O.O.F. lodges, the later for 55 years, the brethren of which paid their last respects as a body at the funeral services in the Ida cemetery. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, five children, 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William of Grant's Pass, Ore.
