Born October 7, 1915 in Greene County, to the late Charles Mayberry and Carrie Elizabeth Campbell Walters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson L. Darnell Sr.; a daughter, Evelyn Darnell Henry and her husband, Samuel Harrison; a son, Nelson L. "Dickie" Darnell Jr.; brothers, Frank Walters, Roy Walters, Floyd Walters and Amos Walters; and a sister, Ethel Walters Davis. Darnell Sr.; a daughter, Evelyn Darnell Henry and her husband, Samuel Harrison; a son, Nelson L. "Dickie" Darnell Jr.; brothers, Frank Walters, Roy Walters, Floyd Walters and Amos Walters; and a sister, Ethel Walters Davis. Survived by a son, David Eugene Darnell and his wife, Mary, of Gordonsville; a daughter, Wanda Darnell Stokes and her husband, Raymond, of Charlottesville; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Darnell of Louisa; and a sister, Valerie Potenziano of Baltimore, Maryland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anthony "Tallie" Stokes and his wife, Debbie, of Louisa, Randy Stokes and his wife, Pam, of Crozet, Amanda "Mandy" Darnell of Gordonsville, Debbie Henry of Charlottesville, Jeff Henry of Crozet, Vickie Baker and her husband, David, of Louisa, Ron Darnell and his wife, Shelly, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lisa Tergou of Chesterfield, and 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was a member of Union Grove Christian Church at Eheart for over 80 years. She was retired from American Silk Mill and Gordon Barbour Elementary. The family would like to give special thanks to Doris Darnell Jones and Frances "Mae Mae" Wilson for their love and kindness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, Gordonsville, officiated by the Reverend John Mitchell. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetary.
