Read More	Lone Tree Reporter, Thursday, October 15, 1925 Friends and relatives were grieved to learn of the sudden and unexpected death of little Arlene Joyce, the two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rossmann. The little girl had been ill only a short time, having complained slightly on Wednesday of last week. On Friday a physician was called and the child was rushed to the hospital in Iowa City where an operation was performed for appendicitis. It was discovered that the appendix was ruptured and that peritonitis had set in and recovery was impossible The little child, brave and cheerful to the end, complained very little, but smiled and called now and then to her parents as they waited near her. About 7:45 o’clock Saturday morning the little life flitted away to Him who gave it, leaving only sorrow and grief behind. Arlene was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rossmann and was the source of a great deal of delight and comfort. Among the numerous, relatives she was a favorite and her sweet little disposition drew all to her and made them feel that she was a part of them. Her passing leaves a home empty and barron of joy and happiness, with parents, relatives and friends unable to understand the mysteries of God. Arlene Joyce Rossmann was born near Lone Tree September 10, 1923 and passed away October 10, 1925 at the tender age of 2 years, and 1 month. She leaves to mourn her departure, her parents and grandparents on her mother’s side and numerous relatives and friends. The funeral services were held in the Reformed church on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. Edw. Holyoke. Music was furnished by a quartette from the church. The flower girls were Hazel Atkin, Edna Carl, Irene McCullough and Elsie Smid. The small white casket was carried by Celeste Baumer, Marian Paker, Blanche Mumm and Delores Storm. Interment was made in the Lone Tree cemetery. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of this dear little girl.
