Description	:	Arlene Mae (Jaspers) Yantis, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, the 1st of August, 2009, at her home in Union, Iowa. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August, 5, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will on Tuesday August 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Union, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Family. Read More	Arlene Mae (Jaspers) Yantis, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, the 1st of August, 2009, at her home in Union, Iowa. Arlene was born On September 19, 1928 in the Hampton, Iowa Hospital (her family lived on a farm near Cleeves, Iowa at the time of her birth), and graduated from Union High School in 1945. On the 4th of July, 1947, she was married to Leo Yantis in her family farm home west of Union, Iowa and as Leo said this morning, he has "lost his best friend". Arlene was the oldest daughter of Dores and Lulu (Edick) Jaspers. Arlene was proceeded in death by her parents, her older brother, Robert Jaspers, a great-grandson, Cody Yantis, and twin great-granddaughters, Chloe and Lilly Veal. Arlene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leo Yantis of Union; Daughter, Dodey(Wayne) Brown of Encampment, Wyoming; son, Leon (Denise) Yantis of Conrad; son Bob( Chris) Yantis of Sturgis , South Dakota; daughter, Marlene (Ted) Sutherland of Golden Colorado; brother, Glen Jaspers of Marshalltown; sister, Lee Early of Pasadena, Texas; brother, Paul Jaspers of Walker ,Minnesota; sister, Ruth Smith of Mishawaka, Indiana; sister, Lyona Hannahs of Union; granddaughters: Jenny Brown of Rawlins, Wyoming; Katy Blake of Encampment, Wyoming; Teri Vedrenne of Sachse , Texas; Ketura Veal of Sturgis, South Dakota; Mary Davis of Garland Texas; Abi Freeman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Amy Worley of Golden, Colorado; Anne Miller of Aberdeen, South Dakota; grandsons: Kevin Yantis of Mishawaka, Indiana; Tyler Yantis of Conrad, Iowa; Rob Yantis of Rapid City, South Dakota; Mark Sutherland of Osceola, Wisconsin; Daniel Southerland of Lake Park, Minnesota and 33 precious great grandchildren. Arlene always enjoyed getting together for reunions- family and school. She loved "catching up" with family and old friends from the past. Arlene worked very hard as a farmer's daughter on the family farm. Positions she held outside the home included: teller at the Hardin County Savings bank in Union; secretary at the Rocky Mountain Lake Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado; bookkeeper at South Sheridan Baptist Church in Lakewood, Colorado; teacher at Silver Baptist School in Lakewood, Colorado; kindergarten teacher at Central Iowa Christian Academy in Marshalltown, and after teaching in Marshalltown, she returned to work as a teller and retired from Hardin County Saving Bank in 1997. She also helped on the ranch, where she and her husband and two youngest children lived on the mountains in Walden, Colorado and with Kings Ranch, a home for the homeless children in Wapiti, Wyoming where she and Leo lived for a few years in the 1980's. Arlene loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and it showed in every area of her life. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years; held Good News Clubs in her home after school for children; worked as a King's Daughter's teacher, King's Kids leader and AWANA leader, along with being a consistent testimony for the Lord in her daily life. She was also involved in Training Union and youth camps while her children were young. Arlene will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
