A luncheon will be served following services at the church. Arnold Lee Coppess was born July 23, 1939, in Iowa City, the son of Harlan and Erhmal (Fairley) Coppess. He graduated from Clarence High School in 1957. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Hospital Clerk Typist, until his Honorable Discharge on August 31, 1965. He married Joyce Lucie Schwitzer on April 20, 1963, at the Peace Church in Bennett. Together, they raised two daughters and farmed livestock and grain on his family's farm near Stanwood, which has been in the family for over 125 years. He was a member of the Clarence Lions Club, Cedar County Cattleman's Association, Cedar County Farm Bureau and the Cedar County Pork Producers. He enjoyed attending the Sprint Car Nationals in Knoxville. He was known as a patient, understanding, empathetic, dependable and quiet man, with a great sense of humor. He showed his thoughtfulness for others by being a great listener and providing his support. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family. Surviving are his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Penny (Charlie Case) Coppess of Cedar Rapids and Tracy (Pat) Boyd of Spencer; four grandchildren, Maddison Boyd, Lauren Boyd, Ryan Boyd and Colin Boyd; one brother, Larry (Marlene) Coppess of Clarence; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Geralene Robinson and one brother-in-law, Casper Robinson. Fry Funeral Home
