He has resided in this county for 35 years. The funeral will take place from the family residence at 2 p.m. today. The burial will be in the Derby cemetery In the death of Arnold Moon another of the old settles of Sedgwick county has joined the procession that has gone before. He came to this county in the fall of 1870 and the following spring moved on to his claim three miles east of Derby. He made a fine farm, and while he and his faithful wife have lived in Derby for the past eight years they still own the place on which they first settled. He lived in this county in the early 70’s when drought and grasshoppers made times hard enough to try men’s souls. Through it all this man of courage never seemed discouraged and when the very few of the old settlers left about Derby look in his open grave today they will say from their hearts it contains the remains of a man who never committed a dishonest act. Arnold Moon was born in the state of New York in 1824. Fifty-four years ago he was married to Miss Caroline Campbell, who survives him. They left their native state to find a home in the west, and before coming here they lived in Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. Four children were born to them, only two of whom are now living. Mrs. T.D.
