Arnold Walter Woodiwiss was born August 26, 1922, St. Ansgar, the son of Walter and Fannie (Ellsworth) Woodiwiss. He attended Clear Lake Schools. Arnold was united in marriage to Pearl Marken on February 3, 1943; to this union five children were born. Together Arnold and Pearl began farming. He enlisted into the United States Army, being honorably discharged September of 1947. Along with farming Arnold worked at the American Crystal Sugar Company, later working for Ruan Transportation for many years until his retirement in 1982. Prior to his retirement at Ruan a dear friend, Steve Brodersen continued Arnold's farming operation. Arnold enjoyed sports and storytelling. He greatly enjoyed his Canadian fishing trips with sons-in- law and good friend Joe Nydegger. Family vacations were a highlight to his life, camping, boating, and taking a trip to the Grand Canyon, with his children and grandchildren.. Arnold and Pearl loved dancing and traveling with friends. In 1993, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, they participated in Ragbrai. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, for 60 years, American Legion member where he served as past commander and Lions member for over 15 years. Arnold is survived by his wife Pearl Woodiwiss, Manly, children Ann(Gary) Dean, Omaha, NE, Ruth (Roger) Wendland, Omaha, NE, Jean (Mark) Torgeson, Manly, Karen (Jim) Dohrmann, Ames, grandchildren Carmen Augustus, Sean Dean, Shamus Dean, Erin Wagoner, Andrea and Zach Wendland, Shannon Westrum, Stephanie Massawe, Sarah and Abra Torgeson, Brooke and McKenzie Dohrmann, Seven Great-Grandchildren, sister-in-law Lorraine Marker, Manly, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Dean Woodiwiss, one grandson, and four brothers and two sisters.
