Mrs. Garland passed away at the hospital in Holyoke. Rev. Oliver W. Brook was in charge of the services. It gets worse from there!}} Arpey Margaret Gillaspey was born to John and Mary Gillaspey, December 23, 1862, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She was the youngest of eight children, having had four brothers and three sisters, and was the last. Mrs. Garland was married to George W. Garland, May 8, 1883, in Charlton, Iowa. They moved to Holyoke, in March 1888, becoming one of the first families in this district. Mr. Garland died April 8, 1930 at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. To this union five children were born. Three died while children. Mrs. Garland was a charter member of the Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Sorosis Club, of which she was a charter member, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Mrs. Garland is survived by one son, George F. Garland, one daughter, Blanche Heginbotham, two grandchildren, Max Heginbotham and George B. Garland, and one great grandchild. One grandson, Gordon Garland died while in the service of his country.
