Burial was at 12:30 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. De Goei was born July 5, 1906, in Dusseldorf, Germany the son of Gilbert De Goei and Catherine Van Beek De Goei. When he was five years old, the family moved from Germany to The Netherlands and then they came to the United States and to Sioux Center when he was age 10. He married Alice Van Roekel June 15, 1933, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed in Middleburg. In 1951, they moved to Orange City where he was employed by Kepp Construction, retiring in 1981. He was a member of First Reformed Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gil of Sheldon and Arthur Dale of Geneseo, Illinois; two daughters, Dee Van Driel of Minneapolis and Alyce Faye Vander Stoep of Orange City; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
