BOGGESS, Mrs. Artamishie — 77, of 1021 Hendrix Ave., died Wednesday at her home after a long illness. She was a former resident of Kenna, Jackson County, and had moved to Charleston two years ago. Surviving are her husband, Owens; a son, Richard Earl Boggess of Weirton; four daughters, Mrs. Westa Long, Mrs. Corrine Duff, Mrs. Pauline Cottrill and Mrs. Louise Rhodes, all of Charleston; a stepson, Wayne Boggess, of Kenna; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Orpha Harrison of Kenna, Mrs. Agnes Hatcher of Charleston and Mrs. Gladys Miller of Hurricane; two brothers, R. S. and Boyd Coleman of Kenna: and eight grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Watts Chapel Church at Kenna with Rev. L. R. Mason officiating. Burial will be in Shamblin Cemetery near the church. --Charleston Gazette [WV] Aug 10, 1961 Thu NOTE: Artamitia is recorded on the birth record and the 1900 census. On the 1920 & 1930 census, the census recorder spelled her name the way it sounded to them and by the 1940 census she started using the nickname Mishie. Looking at the headstone, looks like there wasn't enough room to spell Artamitia or Artamishie, so more than likely the beginning of her first name was used with her nickname.
