OBITUARY: Arthea Charlotte Smith Arthea Smith, the daughter of Archie R. and Caroline (Schultz) Rhodes, was born March 17, 1921 at York, Nebraska, and died November 21, 1995 at Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 4 days. OBITUARY: Arthea Charlotte Smith Arthea Smith, the daughter of Archie R. and Caroline (Schultz) Rhodes, was born March 17, 1921 at York, Nebraska, and died November 21, 1995 at Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 4 days. She grew up in York where she attended school and graduated from York High School. On April 7, 1940, she was united in marriage to Homer Smith at York. Homer preceded her in death on January 27, 1966. They lived in York where Arthea worked for Dr. Kilgore until they moved to Harvard. They moved to Oakland, California while Homer was in the Navy, and to a farm in Benedict following his discharge. In 1951 they purchased a farm southwest of Aurora and lived there until Arthea moved into Aurora with her two youngest sons a few years after Homer's death. In 1990, Arthea moved to Eatmont Towers, a retirement home in Lincoln. Arthea was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 93, in Aurora. She held the position of Worthy Matron and Secretary for many years, and pianist. She was a member of the Past Matrons Group of Aurora, as well as the Past Matrons Group in Lincoln. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Aurora, and was a past president. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Aurora, and had been president of Church circles. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Homer. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her three sons, David and his wife Annemarie of New Town, North Dakota, Mark and his wife Lois of Martell, NE, and Dean and his wife Janet of Eagle, NE, two daughters, Charlotte Smith of Eagle, NE, and Linda Larson and her husband Steven of Aurora, one sister Arideen
