The burial was in Graceland cemetery, Robert Williams having charge of the services at the grave. Arthur was almost 22 years old and has lived in Burlington most of his life. He has been in Tulsa for the past year working in a printing office. His untimely death will be a shock to his many friends here and the family have the sympathy of all. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mauck of Tulsa, I. T., Oscar Blair and his son of Iowa, Jim Blair of Neodesha and Mrs. Blair's sister-in-law, Mrs. Johnson and daughter Miss Elsie of Wichita were here for the funeral. From the Burlington Independent, May 24, 1905. ======= Arthur Blair died at the home of his brother-in-law, L. W. Mauck, in Tulsa, I. T., May 18, after and illness of but a few days. The cause of death was stated as gastritis, but it was probably induced and rendered more rapidly fatal by an affection known among printers as lead poison. He had been working in a printing office there for nearly a year and had become quite proficient in the trade. the remains were brought back here for internment by L. W. Mauck and wife, and the funeral took place at the home of his father, A. Blair, on West Neosho street, Sunday morning. The Sermon was preached by Rev. Macurdy and Rev Robert Williams conducted the services at the grave. Arthur was born in Illinois June 22, 1888 , and had lived in Kansas since he was two years of age, nine years in Harvey county and the rest of the time in Burlington. He was temporarily employed in the printing office here and had been away from home of several occasions. A brother Oscar Blair, and his son from Iowa; James Blair, another norther from Neodesha, and a Mrs. Johnson and daughter, of Wichita, relatives, also attended the funeral here. T., was brought here Saturday on the noon train and the funeral cervices were held from the home Sunday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. W. C. Macurdy of the Methodist church. Robert Williams had charge of the services at the grave as the hour was so near church time Rev. Mr. Macurdy could not to to the cemetery. The internment was in Graceland cemetery. Arthur Blair died of gaschitis after only a day's sickness. He had been feeling unwell for about a week, but it was not considered serious and his death was a severe shock to his relatives and friends. He had lived in Burlington for the past ten years until he went to Tulsa about a year ago where he had been working in a printing office. He was nearly twenty-two years old. The out of town people who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mauck of Tulsa, I. T., who brought the body to Burlington, Oscar Blair, a brother, and his son from Iowa; Jim Blair, anothedr brother of Neodesha, and Mrs. Blair's sister-in-law, Mrs. Johnson and daughter, Miss Elsie of Wichita.
