Art was born in a sod house in the Sand Hill country of Custer County, Nebraska. The son of George Andrew and Nora Alice Price Gregory. Read More	Arthur Albert Gregory, age 77 of Forsyth, MT passed away Tuesday September 26, 1995 at his home in Forsyth. Art was born in a sod house in the Sand Hill country of Custer County, Nebraska. The son of George Andrew and Nora Alice Price Gregory. When he was 5 years old he moved to Loesch, MT on the Big Pumpkin Creek, on the ranch of his mother's brother Willis and Pearl Price. His mother died in 1930 of cancer leaving him and his dad to batch it from then on. Art quit school before the 8th grade, to take a job lambing north of Miles City, MT. At age 15 he started working with his father to learn the carpenter trade. During the depression he herded sheep, sheared sheep, broke horses followed rodeo's and worked as a Carni. Mined coal and drove truck. Art joined the Navy in 1942, and received a medical discharge in 1943. In 1946, he met and married a student in the Cadet Nursing Corps, Dorothy Ross, after she graduated they moved to Forsyth and that is where they made their home. In April of 1948 a son Robert (Butch) was born. He would be their only child. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad as brakemen, and conductor, sold Insurance for Farmers Union, was a Justus of the Peace, had a house moving outfit and farmed a 160 acre Hay and milk cow outfit; at he same time he built his first home. His wife Dorothy worked as an RN at the local Hospital and Nursing home, she helped with the insurance business and the farming and milking, but told Art he was on his own with the Justus of the Peace job, and refused to crawl under any house to jack it up. All this work wore him out and in 1960 he decided to have an auction and sell the farm, and worked only for the Railroad. He quit the Railroad in 1971. He then started his own construction company. Then in 1975 quit the construction business and started a freight line, but due to illness was forced to quit. He was in poor health but still needed to work, so started a sharp shop, running that until his retirement in 1989. After that he enjoyed writing poetry, writing a column in the Local newspaper, gardening and helping his son remodel his first home in Forsyth and later helped him on his little Hobby farm near Forsyth. He would help anyone in need and had every tool one would ever need for any job that they wanted to do, and would lend them out to anyone in town. He also enjoyed going to town for coffee every day to visit with all his friends. He is survive by his wife of 49 years, his son Robert (Butch) his wife Caprice (Young), and Grandson Guy, whom he was very proud of.
