Description	:	Arthur A. Bohling, son of Herman and Sophia W. Albessor Bohling, was born in Adair County Aug. 18, 1916. He died Jan. 12, 1988, in San Diego, California, at the age of 71 years, four months, and 25 days. His early years were spent in the Williamson vicinity helping his father with the farm. Read More	Arthur A. Bohling, son of Herman and Sophia W. Albessor Bohling, was born in Adair County Aug. 18, 1916. He died Jan. 12, 1988, in San Diego, California, at the age of 71 years, four months, and 25 days. His early years were spent in the Williamson vicinity helping his father with the farm. After his mother's death in 1932, the family moved to Fontanelle in 1935. Arthur then worked on the railroad for several years until he was called into the service. In 1941 he entered the army and was sent overseas. He returned from the service in 1945. He then lived with his sister Dorothea Van Vleet and worked for the United Telephone Company. After 30 years he retired from the telephone company. Arthur was married to Lanore Defenbaugh on Aug. 30, 1974. They made their home in Fontanelle, later going to Perry, then to Prescott Valley, Arizona, and then to San Diego, California. He was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the Odd Fellows. Arthur enjoyed his work with the telephone company, camping and fishing. He leaves to mourn his wife Lanore of San Diego, California; sisters, Dorothea Van Vleet of Fontanelle, Lillian Ridout of Griswold, Erma Thomas of San Diego, and sisters-in-law Mildred Peters of Minnesota, Zella Bohling of Laughlin, Nevada, several nieces and nephews; four stepchildren and eleven grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Graveside rites were held Jan. 15 at the Fontanelle Cemetery, with a flag-folding ceremony by the Fontanelle American Legion Post No. 247. Steen Funeral Homes were in charge.
