Obergard, 73, of Venice, also met death and his daughter died Sunday morning from injuries. A son of Mr. Obergard is in the Veterans hospital at Venice receiving treatment for injuries, suffered in the same accident. Leslie Tilgner, the driver, suffered a factured rib and numerous minor injuries. He also suffered greatly from shock. Leslie Tilgner will leave Los Angeles Saturday with his father's body and will arrive in Sioux City Monday morning. A. Earl Ross and members of the Tilgner family will meet him in Sioux City and the body will be brought to Hawarden. Arthur Chester Tilgner, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tilgner, was born February 8, 1883, on a farm in Union county, S. D. He was educated in the schools of Hawarden and latter attended business college in Des Moines. On February 27, 1907, he married Helen Scott at Lennox, S. D. Two sons were born to this union, Leslie and Ronald. His wife, Helen, preceded him in death November 5, 1929. His early business life was spent in Hawarden. He was employed by the Schoeneman Bros. Co. and the Hawarden State bank. He later engaged in the banking business in Cogswell, N. D., Northville, S. D. and Brentford, S. D. He moved to Aberdeen in 1919 where he made his home until his death. In 1944 he went to California where he was occupied in war work until he retired in January 1945. Mr. Tilgner was a member of the local Presbyterian Church with which he was united in 1910. He was affiliated with the Masonic Order and the Elk's Lodge. He is survived by his two sons, Leslie M. Tilgner of Venice and Dr. Ronald 0. Tilgner of Aberdeen, four grandchildren, Patricia, Arthur, Ronette and Jimmy; one brother, J.E. Tilgner of Hawarden; four sisters, Mrs. J. A. Squier and Mrs. A. G; Green, also of Hawarden, Mrs. C. R. Odney of Jamestown, N. D., and Mrs. B. C. Johnson of Sioux City. The Independent (Hawarden, Iowa) 12/5/1946
