He was the son of Dirk W. and Henrietta (Van Donselaar) Gaass He was born in Pella, Iowa and spent his childhood here. After his marriage he lived in Wisconsin for about 20 years, after which he returned to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he resided until the past year when he moved to the Pella Rest Home. Read More	Arthur Dirk Gaass was born February 12th, 1889, and passed away after a lingering illness on October 16th. 1965 at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was the son of Dirk W. and Henrietta (Van Donselaar) Gaass He was born in Pella, Iowa and spent his childhood here. After his marriage he lived in Wisconsin for about 20 years, after which he returned to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he resided until the past year when he moved to the Pella Rest Home. He worked in the lumber industry until his retirement He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Pella. On February 7th, 1913 he was united in marriage to Ida (Van Steenis) Gaass who proceeded him in death on July 3rd, 1959 One brother and 4 sisters also preceded him in death. His survivors are a daughter, Florice Gaass of Pella and a granddaughter, Sharon Smith, one brother, Edward of Prairie City and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services were held Monday, October 18th, 1965 at 2 p m from the Pella Garden Chapel with the Rev Everett G Ward, officiating. Casket bearers were Gerald Steenhoek, Harry Gaass, Harold Van Zante. Adrian D Haan, Merle Van Steenis and Elmer Klein. Interment was in Porter Grove cemetery near Pella, Iowa.
