Drummond, Ohiowa Native, Taken by Death Arthur Elwood Drummond was born at Ohiowa, Neb., January 2, 1883, to Allen T. and Nancy Alice Drummond. He lived his entire life here except seven years spent in homesteading at Torrington, Wyo. He was united in marriage to Alice Martha Luttich February 3, 1919, by Rev. Bernard N. Kunkel, pastor of the Ohiowa Methodist church.To this union one daughter, Hazel May, was born. Arthur passed away at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 20 days May 22, 1958, at 5:40 p. m. at the Hebron Memorial hospital after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one sister, Nettie. He leaves his wife, one daughter, Hazel Schielke, son-in-law, Reinhart Schielke, and one granddaughter, Mary Ann Schielke, two brothers, Elrie and Tom of Ohiowa, one sister, Mrs. Ida Gewecke of Strang, many other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Drummond for several years was employed by Thornton Lumber Company. He was of a quiet nature, but friendly. His business contacts were pleasing. He helped with the upkeep of surroundings around, as well as in the office and yards. He had been in failing health of late years. He was aware that he would not recover from this last illness. His deparature will leave an emptiness in the lives of his family. Business people will miss his daily trip down town. Funeral services for Mr. Drummond were held Sunday afternoon, May 25, at the Philippi Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Konig, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, officiating. Music was by Mrs. B. N. Luttich at the piano and Mrs. Seth Heston and Mrs. Rudolph Meyer, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "We Are Going Down The Valley One By One". Pallbearers were Claude Hall, Frank Sieckman, Jake Bornschlegl, Norman Wright, Rudolph Meyer and Fred Wedeking. Taking charge of the flowers were Mrs. Claude Hall, Mrs Fred Wedeking and Mrs. Cecil Wadlow of Lincoln, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hall. Interment was in the Ohiowa cemetery. Out-of-town relatives and friends here for the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Pearle Schupbach of Lincoln, Mrs. Jim Ritchey of Grafton, Mrs. John Pittard of Geneva, Raymond Schupbach of Geneva, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gewecke of Lincoln, Will Luttich of Beatrice, Mr. and Mrs. Duane D. Sieckman and daughters of Lincoln. Mrs. Bertha Schupbach of Oakland, Cal., Mr. and Mrs. Don Paul Weber of Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Don Thornton and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wadlow of Lincoln, also others from neighboring towns.
