Description	:	OBIT: Arthur G. O'Neill, 83, 55 W. Washington Avenue, Yakima, died Friday at Central Convalescent Nursing Home in Yakima. He was a former longtime Ellensburg area resident. Mr. O'Neill was born November 25, 1901, in County Meath, Ireland, to Arthur and Catherine O'Neill. He came with his family to Ellensburg in 1908 and attended the Woldale Grade School and Ellensburg High School. Washington Avenue, Yakima, died Friday at Central Convalescent Nursing Home in Yakima. He was a former longtime Ellensburg area resident. Mr. O'Neill was born November 25, 1901, in County Meath, Ireland, to Arthur and Catherine O'Neill. He came with his family to Ellensburg in 1908 and attended the Woldale Grade School and Ellensburg High School. He and Flora Snyder were married on July 3, 1929 and they made their first home in Cabin Creek, Washington. The following year, Mr. O'Neill started farming in the Woldale area and later brought a ranch on Dry Creek Road which he named Shamrock Farm. He was active in church and community affairs as a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, a life member of the Ellensburg Elks Lodge, a charter member of the Woldale Grange and a former member of the Knight of Columbus. The O'Neills in 1960 moved to Yakima, where they attended St. Paul Church and later Holy Redeemer Church. Mr. O'Neill was a custodian at the Broadway School and at several other schools until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed trapping. Survivors include his wife, Flora; two sons, Phillip O'Neill of Kent and Dennis O'Neill of Bellevue; one daughter, Sharon Tebb of Monmouth, Oregon; two sisters, Kathleen Crippen and Jane O'Neill, both of Gig Harbor; two brothers, John O'Neill of Yakima, and Leo O'Neill of Ellensburg; five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James O'Neill and five sisters, Bridget Clarke, Mary Thayer, Rose Powell, Alice Haberman and Laura Case. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, following by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. A wake service will be conducted and rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Langvin and Mussetter Funeral Home in Yakima. Ellensburg Daily Record, August 5, 1985
