He is survived by two sons Patrick and Terry, six grandchildren, four great granddaughters and four great grandsons, as well as his sisters Idale, Hazel and his brothers Rozzel and Ersel Lund. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Violet and one son, Douglas. Art was born at Raymond on April 7, 1903. art competed on the rodeo circuit from 1919 until 1948. Art and his brother Andy were considered two of the top cowboys in Canada. In 1924 he traveled to England to compete before the Royal Family. This was truly a highlight of his career. Art was Canadian all-around cowboy from 1937-1940 and World Steer Decorating Champion in 1937. Art was inducted into the Calgary Stampede's Pioneer Hall of Fame, as well as the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Cochrane, Colorado springs, Raymond and Bow Island. In 1983 art was inducted into the The Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Art was an all around cowboy and rode heeled calves up until the age of 90. Art resided at 1-17 in the Milk River area from 1932 until 1979. He then moved to Taber, where he resided until his passing. Art left behind many good friends. The thirties were lucky years for Rodeo Star, Art Lund, the Raymond son who moved to Milk River Nov 19, 1932, the day he married the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her name was Violet and she was the daughter of the illustrious Spud Murphy, the northwest mounted policeman who was also a range inspector and veterinarian. Spud bet on anything and everything and usually won. Art, too, was a winner. Wearing his lucky shirt, he won 16 firsts at steer decorating in 16 shows in 1937. His time of 2.05 seconds gave him the lead he needed to become World Champion Steer Decorator. (This record placed Art, in 1983 in the Rodeo Hall of Champions in Colorado Springs and in 1984 he was inducted into the Canadian Rodeo Hall of Fame) Art rode his last horse (Rodeo) at Shelby, Montana in 1948 at the age of 45. Art rode horses until he was in his seventies at his old home place.
