Description	:	Arthur Luvene "Skeeter" Heald, 88, of Keosauqua, died July 5, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua. He was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Cantril to Russell Todd and Grace Amanda(Carnahan)Heald. Luvene graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1939. On Nov. 3, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S.Army Air Corps. Read More	Arthur Luvene "Skeeter" Heald, 88, of Keosauqua, died July 5, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua. He was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Cantril to Russell Todd and Grace Amanda(Carnahan)Heald. Luvene graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1939. On Nov. 3, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S.Army Air Corps. Luvene was a member of the 71st Fighter Squadron, 1st Fighter Group, where he served as a propeller mechanic for the fighter planes in Italy. Luvene returned to Mt. Sterling and began farming with his father. He married Ethel Marilyn Horner April 1, 1949, at the Congregational parsonage in Keosauqua. He and Marilyn lived on the "Heald Farm" just south of Mt. Sterling until the summer of 1962, when they moved to Keosauqua. Luvene continued to farm south of Mt. Sterling until 1995. He and Marilyn made Christmas a special time of year for the whole family. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved to visit the grandpa with the golf cart. He was a member of Beer-Barker Post 113, American Legion, Keosauqua. He leaves behind his children, Carolyn(Stanley)Miyasaki of Firestone, Colo., Gloria(Rick)White of Revere, MO., Robert(Shelly)of Keosauqua, Julie(Todd)Gatz of Ely, Minn., Mary Beth(Jan)Watson of Urbandale and Tracey(Michael)Crees, Des Moines; grandchildren, Gretchen Wilkinson, Jennifer Miyasaki, Michael Hesler, Meghan Enright, Matthew Hesier, Andy White, Lydia Heald, Gavin Heald, Aimee Chadwick, Sam Miller, Cory Acton, Kiley Gordon, Parker Watson, Chloe Watson and Claire Crees; great-grandchildren, Rowen and Blythe Wilkinson, Bretten Hesler, Olivia and Madeline Enright, Roxie Hesler, Bradley Chadwick, Katelyn, Tyler and Bode Acton, Kieran Stevens; his brother, Glenn Heald and wife Margaret of Auxvasse, Mo.; and two sisters, Betty Warrington and her husband Gordon of Burlington and Beverly Blair of Keosauqua. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn (2002), his parents and granddaughter, Mary Grace Heald. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Lee McIntosh officiating. Burial with military rites by Beer-Barker Post 113, American Legion, Keosauqua, will be in Harness Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. Visitation will open at 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with family present 6-7:30 pm. Memorials toward a bench at Riverview Country Club, Keosauqua, or Harness Cemetery.
