Chapman of Aitkin, MN and two brothers, William Guthrie of Cedar Rapids and Thomas A. Guthrie, who resides in the west. He was an honored citizen of this community, and his sudden passing has caused profound sorrow among his large circle of acquaintances. Ref: Cedar Rapids -- Arthur McKelva Guthrie of Ryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Guthrie, 1820 D Ave., this city died in a hospital at 11 o'clock last night where he was brought three weeks ago for an operation for appendicitis. The operation was a sucessful one and he made good progress toward recovery for several days when the effects of kidney trouble became manifest and was the cause of death. Mr. Guthrie was born at Golden, Delaware Co., IA on 1 Nov. 1876 and leaves in mourning his death his widow and four children, Raymond, Clarence, Wallace and Ruby May, all at home. He is also survived by his aged Father and Mother, two brothers one of whom lives in the west and William Guthrie of this city; and two sisters, Mrs. Homer Chapman of Aitkin, MN and Miss Luella Guthrie of this city. The funeral will be held at the home in Delaware County at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning.
