(Source: Saunders County, NE Marriage Records) ====================== The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, February 4, 1932; pg. 6 Arthur Burge Arthur Burge, son of Milo and Lucy Burge was born in Lake county (sic), near Crown Point, Indiana, on December 13, 1857 and departed this life on January 13, 1932 at the age of 74 years and one month. He grew to manhood in the state of Indiana. In 1880 he migrated to Nebraska, reaching Saunders county (sic), near Wahoo, in October. On November 25, 1880, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Jane Mason at Ceresco, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Burge were the parents of 12 children, six boys and six girls. Mrs. Burge died on July 8, 1918. Two sons and four daughters also preceded their father in death, leaving to survive him four sons, two daughters, 47 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. He resided with his family near Wahoo until the spring of 1893, when they moved to Holyoke, Colo. The following fall they moved to Jewell county (sic), Kansas, and here he resided until September, 1931, when he went to live with his daughter, Mrs. William Ady, at Scandia, Kan., where he passed away. He had been in poor health for years, but stood his suffering bravely. He did not want to shift his burdens on others and threefore (sic) he lived alone for a long time, as he feared endangering others with his infection. His immediate family who survive him are Arthur, jr., of Webber, Kan., Joe of Superior, Boyd of Wamego, Kan.. Clel of Juniata, Neb., Mrs. G. H. Dahlke of Grainton, Neb., and Mrs. William Ady of Scandia. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. W. Whitman. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery (sic).— Superior Express. Mr. Burge was the grandfather of Mrs. Ivan Stroud of this place.
