Description	:	U.S. Veteran Phippsburg - Arthur Ray Perry, 91 of Phippsburg passed away peacefully Monday, July 25, 2011 at Mid Coast Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Bath, Maine on July 26, 1919 to Omar and Melinda Campbell Perry. He graduated from Morse High School as a member of the class of 1939. Arthur worked for Bath Iron Works until 1942 at which time he joined the United States Army Airforce. Read More	U.S. Veteran Phippsburg - Arthur Ray Perry, 91 of Phippsburg passed away peacefully Monday, July 25, 2011 at Mid Coast Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Bath, Maine on July 26, 1919 to Omar and Melinda Campbell Perry. He graduated from Morse High School as a member of the class of 1939. Arthur worked for Bath Iron Works until 1942 at which time he joined the United States Army Airforce. He was stationed in England and France during World War II, driving the rigs hauling airplane parts. At the close of the war he had attained the rank of Sergeant. On July 8, 1945 he married Olive Porter in Everett, MA. In 1946, they moved to Saco, where he worked for the New England Telephone Co. a�" later transferring to Bath. In 1950 he went to work for Central Maine Power Company as a lineman, retiring in 1981. Many times "Art" was called upon to climb those poles during a thunder-lightning storm. Arthur loved to spend time with his family; vacations were always treasured and usually included camping. He even camped across the country to meet up with his service buddy in Arizona after retirement. Their friendship lasted many years after the war. His other love was animals and animal stories. Art was predeceased by his wife Olive of 64 years in February 2010 and also by 2 older brothers who died at birth. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Phippsburg Fireman''s Association, P.O. Box 83, Phippsburg, Maine 04562 or The Coastal Humane Society, 30 Range Road, Brunswick, Maine 04011 Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 29th from 2:00 a�" 4:00pm and 6:00 a�" 8:00pm at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 10:00am at St. Mary''s Catholic Church, 144 Lincoln Street, Bath, Maine 04530.
