Description	:	A. R. Hiatt, Stockport, Is Summoned Stockport -- A. R. [Arthur Romanus] Hiatt, 63, died at his home in Stockport at 1:30 a. m. today after a few months' illness. He was born December 26, 1873, near Centerville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hiatt. He served in the Fifty-first Iowa regimental band in the Spanish-American war, and was stationed at Manila in the Phillipine[sic] islands. Hiatt, Stockport, Is Summoned Stockport -- A. R. [Arthur Romanus] Hiatt, 63, died at his home in Stockport at 1:30 a. m. today after a few months' illness. He was born December 26, 1873, near Centerville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hiatt. He served in the Fifty-first Iowa regimental band in the Spanish-American war, and was stationed at Manila in the Phillipine[sic] islands. He entered the Highland Park college of pharmacy at Des Moines after the war and was graduated there January 4, 1902. After his graduation he came to Stockport where he entered the drug business. He was in that business here for the last thirty-five years. He was town mayor three times and at the time of his death was a member of the town council. He was married to Mrs. Emily Howes of Des Moines during the time he was in school. She died in February, 1914, leaving Mr. Hiatt's two daughters and stepson. He was married to Miss Gladys Becker of Chicago in October, 1921. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Constance McGlothlen and Miss Winifred Hiatt, both of Stockport, and a stepson, C. G. Howes of Los Angeles, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. J. O. Hiatt; a brother, Elzie; two sisters, Mrs. Ola Myers and Mrs. Otto Fischer, all of Centerville, and a grand-daughter. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers. At the time of his death he was a member of the Spanish-American War veterans encampment at Fairfield and a charter member of lodge No. 634, A. F. & A. M. Burial will be at Spencer cemetery.
