Read More	Also known as William Arthur in childhood ********************************************************************************** (From Obituaries of DeKalb County, Indiana, Vol 7; handwritten 'Buried Feb. 20, 1951) ARTHUR BEATY TO BE BURIED ON TUESDAY Retired Auburn Grocer, Age 80, Passed away at Butler Nursing Home following an Illness of Five Years Funeral rites for a retired Auburn grocer, William Arthur Beaty, a former resident at 702 East Seventh street, Auburn, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Marks’s Lutheran church in Auburn. Mr. Beaty, 80, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lowe Nursing home in Butler. His death was attributed to senility and complications following an illness of five years. He entered the nursing home six months ago. At Tuesday’s services, the Rev. Allen K. Trout, pastor of the St. Mark’s church, will officiate with burial in Woodlawn cemetery. The body, which was removed to the Gerig funeral home in Auburn for burial preparations, will remain until noon Tuesday when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of services. A native and life long resident of DeKalb county, Mr. Beaty was born Aug. 12, 1870. He worked for many years for the F. J. Nebelung store in Auburn. He was also employed as a grocer at the Swartz Market in Auburn and later operated a grocery at the present location of the City Market and a neighborhood grocery at his home at 702 East Seventh street, Auburn. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Louise Beaty, who died many years ago. Surviving are his second wife, Mrs. Martha Beaty, a patient at the Lowe Nursing home; a son, Clifton Beaty of San Marino, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Edith Diederich of 450 East Creighton street, Fort Wayne; a daughter-in law, Mrs. Myrtle, of 714 East Third street, Auburn; four grandchildren, Robert Diederich stationed with the U. S. marines at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Robert Beaty of 202 ½ North Jackson street, Auburn; and Phillip and Linda Diederich of Fort Wayne; and two sisters Mrs. Alma Garman of Rt. 2 Auburn and Mrs. Orphra Myers of Cedarville, Ind. A son, Merl Beaty, of Auburn, and a brother also preceded him in death. He was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Auburn.
