He had not been well and was worried and depressed over his health. His family felt this was the reason for the act that caused his death. Obituary Funeral services for Arthur W. Walton of Cedar Rapids, who died Monday, April 20, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, were held at Hrabaks Funeral home in Chelsea Thursday, April 23, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Bechtald of Hartwick officiating. Mrs. Laura Korns and Mrs. Iris Erickson sang "Abide With Me" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Pall bearers were Wesley Behounek, John Bennett, Donald Kithcart, Charly Landuyt, Leonard Smith and Leo Schott. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Vining. Arthur William Walton, son of Charles and Frances Raymon Walton was born March 13, 1917, at Belle Plaine, Iowa and died at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, April 20, 1953, at the age of 36 years, 1 month and 7 days. In Arthur's early childhood (1926) his parents moved to Hazel, Minnesota, where he spent about 10 years. He then moved to Elberon Tama County, Iowa, with his parents. Here Arthur, as a young man, worked as a farm hand in the Elberon-Clutier communities. In 1941 he came to the south Chelsea vicinity where his brother Henry was farming and here he worked as a farm hand about 3 years. Then he started farming and made a home for his parents. His father died June 7, 1945. Arthur kept his mother with him until April, 1951, when he left the farm and took employment at the Nutrena plant in Cedar Rapids. He was employed there at the time of his death. Arthur was a willing and dependable worker and won the respect and admiration of his employers and fellow workers. He was not in the best of health and had been disturbed because of the death of a younger brother. Until recently, many happy visits to his home community were made. Arthur never married. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Frances Walton of Tama; five brothers, Frank of Toledo, George of Belle Plaine, Alfred of Union, Harold of Tama, and Henry of Chelsea; also three sisters, Mrs. Jesse (Emma) Neuman of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Albert (Christina) Fink of Marion, and Mrs. Leo (Margaret) Hilton of Elberon. Also surviving are 32 nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his father were a brother, Raymond, on Jan. 31, 1951, at the age of 28; a brother Charles, in June, 1927, at the age of 32 and a sister and two other brothers who died in infancy. It was in harmony with his character when Arthur presented himself for baptism at the Cedar Christian church in Cedar Rapids on Easter Sunday of this year. As a neighbor and friend, he was thoughtful, kind and helpful. In his quiet courteous manner he lived a life of honesty and usefulness, after going beyond "the line of duty."
