Richard Salcido officiated, with burial in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Born March 24, 1917, in Lake Benton, Minnesota, Arvilla Laura Pfleeger was the daughter of John and Mary (Barnes) Hein. She moved with her family as a young child to Ida County, where she grew up and attended country school. On November 11, 1935, Arvilla was united in marriage to Earl Pfleeger at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grant Township. The couple was blessed with five sons, Eldon, Lyle, Gary, Roger, and Richard. In addition to her duties as the mother of five sons, Arvilla worked in various capacities in Ida Grove over the years. She waitressed at the Cozy Nook and later worked in the laundry department at Horn Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove and was active in the Esther Circle. Arvilla loved playing cards, fishing, dancing, tending her flowers and plants, crocheting, and sewing. She always had time to babysit her many grandchildren. Survivors include four sons, Eldon (Ellen) Pfleeger, and Lyle (Gwen) Pfleeger, all of Ida Grove, Roger (Karen) Pfleeger of Hinton, and Richard (Connie) Pfleeger of Ida Grove; a daughter-in-law, Barb Pfleeger of Arthur; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Edna Kuehl of Lake View; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; a son, Gary; her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Boger and Lorraine Stewart; and two brothers, Harvey and Arnold Hein.
