Ruby Mrs. Arvilla Ruby, 89, of Chillicothe, died at 1-:10 a.m. today at Ottumwa Hospital following an illness of two weeks. She had made her home for the past eight years with Mrs. Minnie Brunt of Chillicothe. She was the daughter of Samuel and Maria Hartshorn Burgess and was born in Wapello County March 3, 1876. She had lived in the Chillicothe community most of her life. She was a member of the Chillicothe Methodist Church. Her marriage to Charles J. Ruby took place Feb. 25, 1930, in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1953. Surviving are one brother, Vern Burgess of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Zella Deitch of Kirkville. Also preceding her in death were one son, Harold, three brothers and three sisters. The service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in charge of Evangelist Albert Peterson of Ottumwa. Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery.
