Asa Dorcas, a son of John and Sarah Dorcas, was born in Cedar county, Iowa, July 8, 1863, and grew to manhood on a farm near Red Oak Grove. He was married to Rena Williams on June 13, 1888, and they resided on a farm until 1911 when they moved to Tipton where they have since made their home. A great lover of birds and flowers, he spent many hours beautifying his home. He was a kind and loving husband and a friend to all. Surviving to mourn his loss are his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Studebaker, Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Ella Williams, Blakesburg, Iowa. Eight brothers preceded him in death. He leaves also, nieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends.
