Mr. Harkness had been a resident of the Leeds Nursing Home in the city, along with his wife, during the past couple of months. Mr. Harkness had been a resident of the Leeds Nursing Home in the city, along with his wife, during the past couple of months. Mr. Harkness was born June 10, 1870, at Sutherland, Iowa, and came to Akron in early youth. He was united in marriage with Miss Lucy Remington on April 5, 1895, at Vermillion, S.D., and they made their home in Akron for many years. Survivors include the widow; three daughters. Mrs. Frances Lloyd, Snohomish, Wash., Mrs. Esther Dimmick, Hawarden, la., and Mrs. Helen Rozell, Everett, Wash.; a son Lowell, Hawarden; a brother, I.D. Harkness, Akron; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Zephenberger, Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church in Akron, Rev. Robert Schesvold officiating. Mrs. Hugh Swift was vocalist and Mrs. V.G. Adams was organist. Pallbearers were R.D. Clark. A.E. Feauto, Frank Johnson, Chas. Caskey, Ed Hartmann and Kenneth Nygard. Burial was in riverside cemetery.
