Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kristen Frick and the Rev. Carl Harris officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Beverly Kelley, Curtis Kelley, Donald Kelley, Ralph Baker, Carroll Baker, Kelvin Baker, Johnny Frick, and R.A. Reynolds. Mr. Kelley was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Bishopville to the late A.M. Kelley and Mamie Holland Kelley. Pat served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His service was mainly in the Pacific. He received his honorable discharge when the war ended. Pat, along with E. J. Ayers, were the co-owners of C. M. Dukes Oil Company for 20 years. Upon his retirement, he began his second career with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department. He served in many areas under four different Sheriffs, all of which he served diligently and fearlessly. Upon his second retirement, he was the oldest serving law enforcement officer in the state. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for over 60 years, serving as Lay Leader and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a Member of Shiboleth Masonic Lodge for more than 40 years, the Elks Lodge No. 897, a Shriner and a member of the York Rite. He was a founding member of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Posse. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cindi Kelley Branham. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Austin Kelley; one son, Billy Kelley (JoAnn) of Orangeburg; three grandchildren, Ashby Branham of Orangeburg, and Kim and Jill Kelley of Mt. Pleasant.
