A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of James Buford Powell and daughter of the late Parl Bright and Callie Bredeen Bright. She was a retired seamstress. Powell 2006-07-19 / Obituaries Retired seamstress Audrey Bright Powell, 83, a resident of Peachtree Centre, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2006, at Peachtree Centre. A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of James Buford Powell and daughter of the late Parl Bright and Callie Bredeen Bright. She was a retired seamstress. She was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, where she formerly served as prayer chairman and care group leader, was a member of Dorcas Sunday School Class, a member of the Amazing Grace Singers and served on the bereavement food group. She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Ray of Blacksburg and Minnie Hensley of Simpsonville; and five brothers, N.B. Bright, Morgan Bright, Hobert Bright, Lawrence Bright and Marvin Bright, all of Gaffney. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Powell Mabry; a son, Stanley Powell; a grandson, Marvin Mabry (Chip) III; a sister, Edith Clary; and a brother, Winfred Nephi Bright. The family will receive friends today from 12:30-2 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel, immediately following visitation, conducted by Dr. Clyde Thomas, the Rev. Stuart Kersey and Mr. Roger Bright. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Family members will be at their respective homes. Arrangements by Blakely Funeral Home. .
