Audrey was born October 17, 1907 in Wauneta, Neb. to Albert and Emma (Mathinson) Sandstead. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1925. She graduated from Colorado Agri cultural College (now CSU) in 1931 with a degree in home Economics. Following graduation, she served for one year as the Extension Home Agent at Large, for the Colorado Extension Service. She then served as Extension Home Agent in Rio Grande, Yuma and Boulder Counties. In 1945, she was cho sen as Assistant State 4-H leader. As the Home Economist on the State 4-H staff, she contributed to the overall Planning, Leadership Training and 4-H Program Development for the state. Audrey received her masters degree from Colorado State University in 1952. She was honored as the first College of Home Economics Alumni to be recognized by the Alumni Council in 1982. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Willard, president of the Busi ness and Professional Women, member of American Associa tion of University Women, Colorado Home Economics Association, American Home Eco nomics Association, Delta kappa Gamma Society, Epsilon Sigma Phi, State Home Agents Association and Eastern Starr. She is survived by nephew, Mike Sandstead of Willard; niece Sandra Sandstead of Bakersfield, Calif.; four great nieces, two great nephews and sister-in-law, Ferne Sandstead of Sterling. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Memorials may be made to Audrey Sandstead Scholarship Fund in care of Colorado 4-H Youth fund, Cara Miller, 131 Aylesworth Hall, N. West, Fort Collins 80523.
