Description	:	August Brinkmeier was born in Douglas County, SD, Dec. 7, 1881. When he was nine years old he moved with his parents to Hurley, later to a farm southwest of Marion. He lived most of his life in the Marion vicinity farming, and in later years doing painting jobs. Read More	August Brinkmeier was born in Douglas County, SD, Dec. 7, 1881. When he was nine years old he moved with his parents to Hurley, later to a farm southwest of Marion. He lived most of his life in the Marion vicinity farming, and in later years doing painting jobs. On May 25, 1904, he was united in marriage to Fannie DeGroot, who on May 13, 1949, preceded him in death. There were no children born to this union, but in 1918, they took a nephew, Harris De Groot, at the age of three months into their home and raised him as their own. On March 18, 1956, he was united in marriage to Mary Unruh. Together they lived in happiness and were an inspiration to the whole family and many other friends. On Thursday afternoon, Jan. 5, 1961, he suffered a heart attack, which was the cause of his death. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mary, his foster son, Harris De Groot, three brothers, two sisters, five step-children and 19 grandchildren.
