Lindberg, a prominent young farmer of Dodge township, died at his home there Thursday evening, September 15th, after a short illness, he being confined to his home only about two weeks. Death was caused by tubercular trouble. Death was caused by tubercular trouble. Gust Edward Lindberg was born in Ostergotland, Sweden, October 4th, 1878, and died at his home in Boone county, Iowa, September 15th, 1910, aged 31 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was left an orphan at the age of five years, both parents dying within a year. One brother died at the age of two years. He came to America when ten years old and made his home with an uncle, Alfred Lindberg, near Stratford, and continued to reside in that community until his death. February 8th 1903 he was united in marriage with Miss Mamie Rosetta Jennings, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Jennings of Dodge township and to them were born two children, a son Herschel, and baby daughter, Mamie, his wife preceded him in death March 26th, 1909, and the baby daughter passed away when but five months old, being tenderly cared for during her brief life by her aunt, Mrs. Anna Jones. March 2nd, 1910 he was married to Miss Nellie Geneva Jennings, their union lasting but the brief time of six months, and she with the son, Herschel, are left to mourn the untimely death of a loving and devoted husband and father. The sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out to them in this their hour of deep sorrow. A sad coincidence is that by his death his son, Herschel, becomes an orphan at the same age the father did, five year. During his last illness he realized the necessary fatal results and became reconciled to die if it was his Creator’s will, but prayed for strength to live if such were possible. He was always happy in the confidence he had of meeting the loved ones gone before in the better world. He is also survived by two uncles, Alfred Lindberg, of near Stratford, and Carl Lindberg of Sweden, and four cousins, Ellen, Jennie, Clarence and Harold Lindberg. His last message was for his loved ones not to be sad in grief for him for he would forever be happy with dear one in heaven. The funeral services were held from the M.E. church at Mineral Ridge at 11:00 o’clock Saturday morning, conducted by the Rev. A.L. Golden of Boone and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends, and the remains tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery at that place.
