Parents: Henry and Louise (Bosse) Lange Married: Lena Grimm on October 2, 1913 Child: Esther (Jerome) Heit Grandchildren: Edward, Allen, Ronald, Elaine & Duane When August and Lena married, his parents built a second house on their farm so that they could also live on the home place. On both his birth and confirmation certificates it says that his name was Gerhard Heinrich August Lange. Also says his father was Johann Heinrich Lange and his mother was Anna Maria Louise (Bosse) Lange. As his daughter, Esther remembers the story about her parents; August and Lena and others in the community were ill with Scarlet Fever. August and Lena were being cared for in separate homes. Scarlet Fever had given Lena a temporary hearing loss. Because of the hearing loss Lena was not told of her husbands death until after the body had already been buried. Lena never remarried. For a couple years Lena stayed in the area and did housekeeping, after a couple years she and Esther moved to New Hampton and stayed with Lena's mother (Eliza Zmoos-Grimm). In New Hampton Lena was able to get more cleaning jobs to support herself.
