LAUTERBACH FUNERAL RITES HELD MONDAY Funeral services were held Aug. 12 for August Lauterbach, who passed away August 7th at Skyline Hospital. August Lauterbach was born in Barkley, Texas, on Mar. 2, 1888. Surviving Mr. Lauterbach are: his wife, Ethel of White Salmon, whom he married in 1962; two brothers, William R. Lauterbach of White Salmon and Henry Lauterbach of North Bonneville; one sister, Miss Louise Lauterbach of Portland and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held August 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Gardners Chapel in White Salmon with Pastor Gary Grafwallner officiating. Interment was in the Goodwill Cemetery in White Salmon. Pallbearers were: Bill Lauterbach Jr., Jim Lauterbach, Jerry Randle, Chip Kreps, Bodge Kreps, and Mitch Hecomovich. He came to White Salmon with his parents, Rudolph and Wilhemina Lauterbach in 1892 and worked on their ranch as a young boy. As a young man he went to work for John Wyers and learned to be a meat cutter. In 1916 he opened Lauterbachs Market which he operated until 1921 when he sold to C.F. Corn. He then moved to Puyallup, Wash., until 1931 when he returned to White Salmon and work for Lauterbach Brothers. During the war he worked at Vancouver, Wash. and later retired from the meat cutting profession in 1953 to make his home in White Salmon.
