M. Schwarting Funeral services for A. M. Schwarting, prominent stockman and feeder, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Friedens Evangelical church in Tilden, Re. J. Kruzer officiating. Burial was made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Tilden. August Martin Schwarting was still a young man in the prime of his manhood when the final summons came to call him suddenly to his eternal reward. He was blessed with good health through out his life and by the grace of God was enabled to meet his responsibilities when he became ill very quickly and after only one week succumbed in the early afternoon of Friday, April 12, at his home near Oakdale. In his chosen vocation of life as stockman and farmer he demonstrated his business acumen to such an extent that he won the admiration of all who were associated with him as friends. Unwilling to yield to necessity for rest and recreation, he overtaxed his strength and soon laid low by illness to which he suddenly succumbed. At the time of his death he was aged thirty-eight years, five months and twelve days. He was born at Howells, Cuming County, Nebraska, on October 31, 1901, and three years later, in 1904, he came to this community where he spent his childhood, grew to manhood and lived until the time of his death. On September 3, 1922, he entered the union of holy matrimony with Miss Velda Duncan which lasted for about eleven years. On May 11, 1935, he was married to Miss Pauline Zurcher at Valentine, to which union two children were born. He was a member of the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church, Tilden. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline Schwarting; his daughters, Shirley Jean and Donna Mae; his mother, Mrs. Mary Schwarting, Oakdale; his brothers, George and William, Oakdale, and Louis, Tilden; his sisters, Mrs. Anna Kinney, Oakdale, and Mrs. Lizzie Bickford, Lebanon, Oregon; other relatives and many friends.
