Read More	AUGUST PARITZ WAS EARLY DAY CREAMERY MAN HERE Brief mention has previously been made in these columns of the death of August Papritz, an esteemed resident of this community for many years, in Sacred Heart hospital, LeMars, Iowa, Sunday morning, September 22, 1946, after a brief illness of bronchitis and complications, at the ripe age of 85 years, 2 months and 39 days. Paul August Papritz, son of August and Johanna (nee Radlitz) Papritz, was born in Bylstock, Russia, on June 13, 1861. As a child he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On November 24, 1890, he was united in marriage with Christine Ries, at Hamburg, Germany. This union was blessed with five sons and three daughters. The family came to the United States in 1892and lived in Galva and Holstein, Iowa. They came to Akron in 1899. Mr. Papritz, who was a butter maker, had operated a creamery at Holstein, and came here and bought the Akron Creamery, engaging in the manufacture of ice cream along with butter making for a number of years. Immediately upon coming to Akron, the family associated with Trinity Lutheran church. Mr. Papritz was one of the charter members of the congregation and for many years served as secretary. On September 22, 1929, the home was saddened by the passing of the devoted wife and mother. (As a coincidence, it will be noted that Mr. and Mrs. Papritz passed away on the same day of the month, September 22nd) In later years Mr. Papritz lived in Sioux City and was employed at the Martin Hotel. His declining years were sent in the home of his daughter, Mrs. John (Katherine) Willer, near Brunsville, this county. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Left to mourn his departure are the following children: Adolph of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Anna Kermack, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Paul and John of Akron, Ia.; Carl of Everett, Wash.; Mrs. Katherine Willer, of Brunswville, Iowa; Mrs. Clara Nelson of Hyden Lake, Idaho, and Frank, of Williamsburg, Ia.; also by a number of grandchildren. Aman of integrity, of upright character and industrious habits, Mr. Papritz was highly esteemed in a wide circle of acquaintance. Funeral services wee held Thursday afternoon September 26, in Trinity Lutheran church in Akron, conducted by Rev.J. A. Pannkuk, the paster, Hymns, "Asleep in Jesus" and "Abide With Me," were sung by Bonnie Adams and Dorothy Belmer. Interment was in Riverside cemetery. A number of memorial wreaths were given in memory of Mr. Papritz, by the Pleasant Hill U.B. Ladies; Aid, for foreign missions, and by friends at the Pleasant Hill U. B. Church, for missions.
