Description	:	Passing of a Pioneer August Stroberger was born July 23, 1833 at Herzberg, Germany. He was married on February 6, 1866 to Dorothy Slettnisch of Kruetsch, Prussia. This union was blessed with three children, the eldest, Mrs. Anna Sebade, preceding him in death. He was married on February 6, 1866 to Dorothy Slettnisch of Kruetsch, Prussia. This union was blessed with three children, the eldest, Mrs. Anna Sebade, preceding him in death. In 1872 Mr. Stroberger, together with his family immigrated to America and immediately took up their residence on a homestead one half mile west and one mile north of Creighton, where he continued to reside until 1896 when he and his wife moved to town and made their home. His wife died in the spring of 1913, after which he made his home with his son, Otto, and daughter, Mrs. Herman Falke of Bazile Mills. A few months ago, he moved to Fremont with his son, Otto. On the morning of Sunday, October 15, 1922, he was found dead in bed, death occurring suddenly from old age, his span of life reaching over 89 years, 2 months and 22 days. He is survived by his son, Otto Stroberger of Fremont and Mrs. Herman Falke of Bazile Mills, seven grandchildren and other relatives. Mr. Stroberger's fifty years of residence in Knox county marks him as one of the earliest pioneers. But he is gone. Another name is stricken from that ever lessening roll of our old settlers. And it must be so, his life work was done and also well done. Through the many trials which befront a pioneer, he had borne the adversity and came through a winner. How much this community owes to ones such as he, is impossible to estimate, but suffice it to say he lived nobly and died peacefully at nearly four score and ten. The remains arrived in Creighton Monday afternoon and were taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Falke at Bazile Mills. Funeral services were held from the Falke home Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock and from the Lutheran church at Bazile Mills at 10 o'clock. Interment took place in the Creighton cemetery.
