Description	:	Mrs. Fred Geweke (By Elk Creek Correspondent) Mrs. Fred (Augusta) Geweke of Elk Creek died at 7:45 o'clock Wednesday evening, August 26, 1964, in a Lincoln hospital, where she had been for a number of years. She reached the age of 83 years and nine days. Born August 17, 1881, at Elk Creek, she was a daughter of John and Fredericka (Rinne) Bartels. She was baptized by Rev. A. W. Bergt September 4, 1881, and was confirmed by Rev. H. F. Grupe April 7, 1895, in st. Peter's Lutheran church near Elk Creek. She was educated in St. Peter's parochial school... Read More	Mrs. Fred Geweke (By Elk Creek Correspondent) Mrs. Fred (Augusta) Geweke of Elk Creek died at 7:45 o'clock Wednesday evening, August 26, 1964, in a Lincoln hospital, where she had been for a number of years. She reached the age of 83 years and nine days. Born August 17, 1881, at Elk Creek, she was a daughter of John and Fredericka (Rinne) Bartels. She was baptized by Rev. A. W. Bergt September 4, 1881, and was confirmed by Rev. H. F. Grupe April 7, 1895, in st. Peter's Lutheran church near Elk Creek. She was educated in St. Peter's parochial school and public school district No. 27 near Elk Creek. She was married to Mr. Geweke of Elk Creek November 1, 1900, in St. Peter's Lutheran church. They established their home on a farm two and one-half miles west of Elk Creek. Mr. Geweke died February 16, 1953. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gottlieb Geweke, who died in May, 1952; and her parents. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Lyndon (Alma) Warnke of Lincoln and Mrs. Theodore (Lillie) Lillich of Yuma, Colo.; three sons, Fred Geweke of Yuma, Colo., Elmer Geweke of Elk Creek and Leonard Geweke of Tecumseh; a brother, Gottlieb Bartels of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Amalia) Stutheit of Ogallala, Mrs. Otto (Louise) Celschlager of Greenleaf, Kans., and Mrs. George (Hilda) Ramsey of Tecumseh; five grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. The funeral was held in St. Peter's Lutheran church, with Rev. J. Heins, pastor of the church, officiating. His sermon was based on I Corinthians 15:26. The pallbearers were Louis Geweke, Howard Sommerhalder, Gus Peters, Leo Lange, Arthur Sodman and Lloyd Oelschlager. Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery, with arrangements by the Wherry mortuary of Tecumseh.
