ABOVE IS FROM THE SCHWEDE FAMILY HISTORY BOOK MADE IN 1978 ================================================================ Following from the Obituary published in REVIEW, New Ulm, MN. on 03 May 1916: "The death of Mrs. Augusta Schwede occurred at her home on North Front Street between 7 and 8 o'clock after being ill but a very short time. Mrs. Schwede had been ailing for some months, but her condition never was such as to cause apprehension and she had been up and around as usual Saturday evening.... Mrs. Schwede had been ailing for some months, but her condition never was such as to cause apprehension and she had been up and around as usual Saturday evening. Fifteen minutes after she first complained of feeling ill she had passed away." "The deceased, whose maiden name was Augusta Krueger, (should be Bartz) was born July 7, 1845 in Pommern, Germany. When a young girl she came to America with her people and settled in Wisconsin in the vicinity of Milwaukee, where in 1867 she was married to Friederich Schwede, who survives her. The couple made their home near Milwaukee for about 16 or 17 years on a farm, later lived on a farm near Springfield, MN., from there went to Hector and later to Fairmont, coming to New Ulm about eighteen years ago, where they have since made their home. Besides the bereaved husband the deceased is survived by twelve children, as follows: William of Morgan, MN.; Fred, Herman, August, Louis and Edward, all of Donnybrook, ND.; Mrs. Tina Gehrke (Fred Gerth), Clarissa, NM.; Mrs. Augusta Krueger, Wisconsin; Mrs. Lena Wellhausen, Medina, ND.; Mrs. Ida Krueger, Mankato; Mrs. Alvina Klein, and Mrs. Emma Bott of Donnybrook, ND." " Funeral services were held from the late home of the deceased and later from the Friedens church Tuesday morning and the remains were shipped for interment to Donnybrook, ND. Rev. G. Mayer of the Friedens congregations officiated at the services held in this city."
