CHRISTOPHER DIES HERE MONDAY Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. for the late Mrs. Augusta Christopher who died after a short illness at the Citizen's Hospital in Aspen, Monday, June 24th. Mrs. Christopher was confined to her home during the past ten years because of an hip injury but had been in very good health until a heart condition developed last month which caused her death. Augusta Elizabeth Christopher, old-time resident and pioneer of the Aspen Community, passed from this life to her eternal reward June 24th. She was born in Lonigen, Germany, January 20, 1870, being 76 years, 5 months, and 4 days old at the time of her passing. Mrs. Christopher came to America when she was 17 years old and lived for a while with her sister in Cincinnati. Hearing of the mining activities and boom in the West from her sister, Mrs. Rich, who preceded her here. She came to the prosperous mining town of Aspen where she met and married her late husband, Mark Christopher. To this union were born three children, John and Harold, who live on a ranch on Brush Creek and Mrs. John Kenney of Redstone, Colo. Besides the three children, she leaves one grandchild, Mrs. Jess E. Kitts of Greeley, Colo., and one nephew, Frank Rick of Carbondale. Being a good citizen, a loyal friend, and a fine mother made her loved by all who knew her. The genial hospitality of her home was always open to everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The funeral was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church where Mrs. Christopher had been a life long member. The Rosary was held at 8:00 p. m. Wednesday evening. Father Walsch from Leadville officiated.
