Augusta Reuter was born at Monticello on June 9, 1906, the daughter of Carl and Margaret Siebels Reuter. She received her education at the rural schools near her home. Augusta Reuter and Louis J. Helgens were married June 11, 1930, at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on a farm in Wayne Township. They retired from farming in 1964 and moved to Monticello. Her husband preceded her in death in 1982. Augusta was a member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, were she belonged to the ALCW and the Sara Circle. She is survived by her daughter, Lorna Rieniets of Cedar Rapids; and a son, Harlan Helgens of Monticello; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters. Casketbearers will be Paul Lydell, Fred Iben, Ray Kleinow, David Lasley, Robert Thoeni and William Murray Jr. Goettsch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. * * * * * * * NOTE: Augusta's mother passed away two months after she was born. Thede's sister, Anna, took Augusta into her home and she was raised by Anna Elisabeth Siebels married to Johann Gerdes. Anna and Johann Gerdes were my Great Grandparents - Sharon Brodersen Lindbloom
