This time it was Augusta Kuhn, who after a brief illness, closed her eyes in death last week Friday at about 10:30 p.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed H. Funke. Augusta Kuhn was born August 3, 1859 at Birnbaum, Germany. She was the child of Henry Jaeger and Ernstine, nee Redenz. Soon after her birth she was received into God's communion by Holy Baptism. In 1873 she was confirmed in the Christian faith after a thorough instruction in the Word of God. In 1881 she came to the United States and for many years lived on the farm three miles south of Blue Hill. For the last 29 years the departed resided in our village. The same year when she came to this favored land, she also entered the holy estate of matrimony being united with Bernhard Kuhn for this life. After 15 years of married life Mr. Kuhn preceded her in death in 1896. This marital union was blessed with six children, Emil Kuhn of Blue Hill; Frank Kuhn, deceased; Anna Schmidt, deceased; Bernhard Kuhn, Bertha Funke, both of Blue Hill; and Alma Bock of Roseland. The departed is also survived by two brothers, Fred Jaeger of Wilsonville, NE, and Ed Jaeger of Germany; one sister, Mrs. Albert Kort, Sr. of Blue Hill, and 15 grand children and 11 great grand children and many other friends and relatives. Mrs. Kuhn has been a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran almost since the church's organization. She was faithful unto death and is now wearing the crown of life with her Savior. Her funeral was last Sunday, October 1, at two o'clock beginning with a short service at the house of mourning. After the arrival of the funeral procession at Trinity Lutheran church the procession entered the House of God. While Mrs. H.O. Bloch was singing in subdued voice with the accompaniment of the organ by Prof. H.O. Bloch "Nearer My God to Thee." Words of comfort and exhortation were directed to the mourners by Rev. August Ficken, which were based on Rev. 2, 10: "Be Thou Faithful Unto Death, and I will Give Thee a Crown of Life." A duet, Mrs. O.A. Kort and Mrs. Wm. Kort sang "Let Me Go," a favorite selection of the departed. The days of her sojourn were 80 years, 1 month, and 26 days. Her mortal remains rest in Blue Hill Cemetery beside her partner in life.
