Augusta Fechner was born in Obornik, Germany, near Posen. Dec. 5. 1835, the eldest of a family of 14 children. She came to America in 1860, making her home at Blue Grass. Ia., until her marriage to Henry Gettert, Oct. 14 of the same year. They resided at Pine Mills for a time and later erected a home in Sweetland township. On Nov. 11, 1893. they moved to South Muscatine. Mr. Gettert died April 23, 1918. Mrs. Gettert had made her home with her daughter in Davenport for the past six years. She was a member of the Protestant Evangelical church. Body Brought Here. Surviving are five children. Mrs. Mary Wiese and John Gettert of Davenport; Jacob Gettert and August Gettert of Muscatine; Mrs. Anna Johnston of Los Angeles, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Amelia Gettert, Sterling, Neb. The body was brought to the home of her son, Jacob Gettert, 401 Park avenue, Muscatine and will remain there until services. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Jacob Gettert home and at 2 o'clock at the Protestant Evangelical church. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The Hoffman Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
