Gettert, 83, of 410 Park avenue, died suddenly of a heart attack at 4 p.m. Monday, while at work on the Gettert farm, route 2 in Sweetland township. Mr. Gettert was born April 11, 1863 at Pine Mill, Muscatine county, the son of Henry and Augusta Fechner Gettert and had been a life resident of this county. He married Annie C. Kline, May 7, 1889, in Muscatine. Surviving are the widow, of Muscatine; two sons, Tony of Muscatine and Herbert A. Of Davenport; three daughters, Mrs., Della Holtz of this city Mrs. Florence McCullough of Sweetland township and Mrs. Iona Larson of Clinton, In.; two brothers, August Gettert of Muscatine and John H. Gettert of Davenport; one sister Mrs. Annie Johnston of Muscatine; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One daughter and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home, with Dr. R.M. Shipman, pastor of First Methodist church, in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The body will be taken to the family home, 401 Park avenue, at 5 p.m. today, and will remain there until Thursday noon when it will be removed to the funeral home for services.
